PixieVic - Curious Choices

CURIOUS CHOICES

I ran away once
At the age of nine
It was kidneys for dinner
(I refused to eat mine!)
And so I was denied
Apple crumble for pud
And I ran away
Just because I could …
I packed up a bag
Full of my favourite things
And a 50p piece
I would live like a King!
I hid in an oak tree
Way up high
And watched them look for me
Tears pricking my eyes …
This first crossroad decision
Was an ‘interesting’ one
Leading to more
‘Curious Choices’
In the years to come …
I chose a creative career
And chose not to give up
I lived on apples & crisps
To afford wine in my cup
I ignored good advice
Because I knew better
Followed white rabbits
Right down to the letter
I made decisions
In fear & in haste
My relationship preference
Was of questionable taste!
I chose to start smoking
I lived on my wits
I thought myself ugly
And I hated my tits!
Now all of these choices
Have led me to here
Standing my ground
I’m my own musketeer
Still fighting the good fight
Stubborn & true
I’ve learnt some hard lessons
Got bad reviews
But without the experiences
Listed above
I’d not have learned
That it’s ME
I needed to love …
So I own all my choices
The good & the bad
(And I still make decisions
Considered by others as mad)
My ‘interesting’ choices
Have brought me my son
Put me in the right places
To discover ‘The One’
I am now empowered
To love unconditionally
(And just so we’re clear)
I’d still run away
If you make me eat kidneys!

Something you should know:
No bones about it, we love PixieVic. I first heard her at the legendary Chaos Acoustic Club - a weekly event that has done so much to nurture leftfield talent, let’s say her performance was jawdroppingly challengingly brilliant. No let up ever since. Pixievic on Facebook

HELP OUTSIDELEFT

Outsideleft exists on a precarious no budget budget. We are interested in hearing from deep and deeper pocket types willing to underwrite our cultural vulture activity. We're not so interested in plastering your product all over our stories, but something more subtle and dignified for all parties concerned. Contact us and let's talk. [HELP OUTSIDELEFT]

WRITE FOR OUTSIDELEFT

If Outsideleft had arms they would always be wide open and welcoming to new writers and new ideas. If you've got something to say, something a small dank corner of the world needs to know about, a poem to publish, a book review, a short story, if you love music or the arts or anything else, write something about it and send it along. Of course we don't have anything as conformist as a budget here. But we'd love to see what you can do. Write for Outsideleft, do. [SUBMISSIONS FORM HERE]
