The OUTSIDELEFT Short Story Orgy begins on Saturday with a piece from a brilliant new UK writer, Kiah Cranston.

Short Story Orgy is OUTSIDELEFT’s new thing. Get ready readers, it starts here on Saturday. Where it ends up I just don’t know yet. Short Story Orgy is our new destination for kick-ass short stories. They’re gonna be brief, on point, there’s gonna be grief, they’re gonna hurt like you’ve been the victim of a hit in a pulp-noir masterpiece. This is not arcana. Fuck the meandering narratives, we’re looking to unearth true rough diamonds, we’re looking for a humanscale future of fiction.

Do we have to explain that this isn’t a call out for archetypal lit stock-in-trade hate, violence and misogyny. You’ve got to do better than that.

What we’re building here is an unassailable archive. It’s likely you will not see new entries into our Short Story Orgy canon often. We’re reckoning on the greatest talent. Rare and extraordinary. Is that you? Think you’ve written it? Think again. Maybe you have? We want OL’s readers to see stories that have an immediate and lasting impact from writers who dig shallow and deep. Writers who dare to unlock themselves. Writers we’ll all get to know together.

We’re as excited about this as we have been about anything we’ve done in a while. And at the outset, as always, we are arrogant enough to say we refuse to equivocate. We will know what we want when we see it. We mean it. Short Story Orgy is more than a slogan on a t-shirt or a tea towel(!). Although it might be that too. We’re believers. The most dangerous kind.

The OUTSIDELEFT Short Story Orgy begins on Saturday with 'Going Round The Bend' from a brilliant new UK writer, Kiah Cranston.

All About and Contributors

Outsideleft exists on a precarious no budget budget. We are interested in hearing from deep and deeper pocket types willing to underwrite our cultural vulture activity. We're not so interested in plastering your product all over our stories, but something more subtle and dignified for all parties concerned. Contact us and let's talk. [HELP OUTSIDELEFT]

If Outsideleft had arms they would always be wide open and welcoming to new writers and new ideas. If you've got something to say, something a small dank corner of the world needs to know about, a poem to publish, a book review, a short story, if you love music or the arts or anything else, write something about it and send it along. Of course we don't have anything as conformist as a budget here. But we'd love to see what you can do. Write for Outsideleft, do. [SUBMISSIONS FORM HERE]
