White bitch goes to Memphis to hang out with the homies, cut an album? Great news Sexy white bitch plays the piano while Al Green's old guitarist (and the guitarist's brother) pick up nice session fees from Matador Records? Fantastic development. White bitch forgets to finish her songs before she goes into the studio to record The Greatest? Maybe she thought Al Green's guitarist would finish them for her.

Sorry, honey, you got to pay extra for that.

Cat Power is part of the Adult Quality Music Conspiracy allied to the Any Bitch Singer Songwriter Is a Rare Orchid Conspiracy allied to the Singing Cunt Conspiracy. People who buy her CDs, no doubt Amazon would bear me out, also like similarly photogenic "sensitive" chancers like Nick Cave, P.J. Harvey, and Sinead O'Connor. Men who write about music for broadsheet newspapers before they get better gigs as Motoring Correspondent or Restaurant Critic have loads to say about music like this, a Great White Con aimed at people who want to talk about black music like they are black but who never want to actually listen to any of that wild stuff or live in that wild style.

I have never heard Cat Power before though I have heard all about her. I have seen her picture in magazines. Perhaps she has a future as a glamour model. Perhaps she could do that kind of work until gravity takes its toll and then she could go sit on a stool in some boho dive in Manhattan and recite poetry while elitist self aggrandizing shits like Sonic Youth or Sean "Ono" Lennon look on in admiration. Right now she should leave the songwriting to the songwriters and the singing to the singers.
