Chickenbone John: A definition of the blues...

OUTSIDELEFT'S NIGHT OUT in Cork's Lounge, Bearwood.
FEATURING A LIVE PERFORMANCE FROM CHICKENBONE JOHN,
DJ SETS from WOODENHAND
AND SPECIAL GUEST DJ AGATA MAKIELA

I was standing in the middle of a muddy field in Hertfordshire, not far from the house Postman Pat’s money built (it’s big, if you haven’t seen it), when I got word that Chickenbone John was coming to play at Outsideleft’s Night Out at Cork’s in Bearwood on Friday March 1st. I am just so astonished and grateful that this world class musician is happy to come and perform in our community, at our Night Out. It’s a beautiful thing. Everyone is invited.

I’ve seen Chickenbone John play a number of times and it’s always a racious, primitive melodic sound he coaxes from his cigarbox guitar, stompbox and gritty soulful voice. A definition of the blues really.

John is a world renowned maker of handcrafted cigar box guitars and we’re hoping as part of the show he will provide some insight into these iconic instruments. Three strings is the truth.

The vintage vibe of the Corks lounge will be a perfect setting for John and we can't wait to see him.

WOODENHAND & AGATA MAKIELA
Our regular DJ, Woodenhand will blast vintage soul, jazz, funk vinyl, and way more besides, whatever gets his mood in the moment.

HELP OUTSIDELEFT

Outsideleft exists on a precarious no budget budget. We are interested in hearing from deep and deeper pocket types willing to underwrite our cultural vulture activity. We're not so interested in plastering your product all over our stories, but something more subtle and dignified for all parties concerned. Contact us and let's talk. [HELP OUTSIDELEFT]

WRITE FOR OUTSIDELEFT

If Outsideleft had arms they would always be wide open and welcoming to new writers and new ideas. If you've got something to say, something a small dank corner of the world needs to know about, a poem to publish, a book review, a short story, if you love music or the arts or anything else, write something about it and send it along. Of course we don't have anything as conformist as a budget here. But we'd love to see what you can do. Write for Outsideleft, do. [SUBMISSIONS FORM HERE]
